On Nov. 6, 2012, Colorado voters passed Amendment 64. This amendment allows persons 21 years of age or older to legally possess up to one ounce or less of marijuana without a doctor’s recommendation and to grow up to six marijuana plants.

Under Amendment 64, City Council has three options in regard to retail operations: (1) adopt an ordinance prohibiting retail marijuana businesses in Fort Collins; (2) put a prohibition question on the November 2014 ballot for the voters to decide; or (3) allow retail marijuana businesses in Fort Collins and impose local restrictions on the time, place, manner and number of retail marijuana operations.

There is currently a temporary ban in place until March 31, 2014 on retail businesses. During this time, we want to hear from the community. Please see the question above and leave us your comments.
